Van's 1st Birthday

Warning this one is a big one!!

We have partied for a week here at the Hansen house. Van has been loved, sung to, and eaten more cake than any 1 year old I know.

He turned the big 1 on Tuesday May 24. He woke up to presents on the couch and excited brothers.

It didn't take him long to snitch a present and take off for his favorite "hiding" spot to see if he could get it open.

His "spot". He spends more hours a day hiding under the table than he does anywhere else in the house. Thank goodness for strong tape. He stole presents all day and never got one open.
He shares a birthday with one of my daycare kids. Her mommy was wonderful and sent cupcakes for the kids. It was fun letting them have their own little party. Van wasted no time with his cupcake. The kid meant business!

Love this one of my 3 youngest! It is awesome watching your children love each other.

Kid know this is his special day. Check out that awesome "I am one" finger!

The fun birthday bunch
The birthday Babies! Yep, there is definitely a size difference, Van's okay with being little.
Birthday kisses for mom, one of my favorite things in the entire world!

We had to wait for Daddy to get home from work, eat dinner, and the usual night stuff, but finally it was time to open presents!
The boys each got to pick out their own present for Van. Who knew Kings had sooooo many toys to choose from. The each helped wrap, and in the end, they each helped unwrap the gift they bought.

Yes our children get totally spoiled on their birthday!

He turns 1 and all of a sudden he thinks he is big man of the house. Here he has stolen Orrin's hat and Vivin's truck, both brave moves on his part.
Tonight we finally got to have the big party for our Baby! We spent all day mowing and cleaning up the yard, making the cake, and playing with cousins. The party was to be outside, but of course it rained. The backup plan was to go to the church, but when Tyler went to set up tables, the church was set up for a funeral (coffin and everything). That's just our luck. So, in 20 mins we cleaned and had the house ready for a party. Van's B-day cake.
We had our "it's my party and I'll cry if I want to" moments while trying to get a pic. Seriously they are my favorite!

Van's shining moment in the spot light. Love the Happy Birthday song and blowing out the candle, so did he.

We finished off the evening with a few more presents...
and some balloons and called it a night!
How truly blessed our family has been with the addition of this little one. He has brought such a light into our home with his contagious smile and energetic personality. He has each and every one of us wrapped around his little finger. He knows that he is loved and loves us each in return. Happy 1st Birthday Sweet little Van!!

Mother's Day

The reality of being a mother to these amazing little ones sometimes takes my breath away. There was a time, not that long ago, that we were told children were beyond us. We were heartbroken, devastated, and left wondering why such a righteous desire was left unfulfilled.
How thankful I am each and everyday that we have been blessed with children. Our own children. We are now full of love, tired, exhausted, and left wondering sometimes "how in the world did we end up here!!". Our joy is full and it is in large part because of our children.

Tallon's letter to me this year:
I love my Mom because she reads me books I need help on
I love my Mom because she helps me with scouts
I love my Mom when she makes me laugh by tickling me
I love my Mom because she taught me how to say the alphabet
I love to hear my Mom sing my piano songs I play
I love my Mom because she finds time to play with me
I know my Mom cares because she hugs and kisses me
I know my Mom is smart because she helps me when I am stuck on a question
I love my Mom because she works hard at loving me
I love my Mom because she's the BEST MOM EVER!
Love Tallon

Tyler helped the boys pick out the perfect card and my favorite part is each one of them signed it, some with help some without. I love the hugs and kisses that I received out of the blue and the beautiful necklaces they made at church, even if the twins wouldn't give me theirs. How truly blessed my life is because I am a mother.

He maketh the barren women to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.
Psalms 113:9

Happy Mother's Day
