What a couple of days!

It is one of our favorite weekends in June, but this year it was a killer! We have a little daughter that ropes us into a lot of things. Last year she convinced Tyler and I to chaperon a high school team for Relay for Life, we had a great time and so this year we volunteered to hang out with 6 high schoolers for an entire 16 hours. Tallon was so excited that he got to go with us this year and was such a trooper (he hung out with the cheerleaders most of the night) for the whole night. Klem joined us for a refreshing 10 laps and even shared a M&M or two with everyone.
We walked a total of 475 laps which adds up to about 118 miles. Tyler and Jared were our real troopers clocking in at 5-6 hours of walking time and pulling an all nighter. A couple of us got a few hours of shut eye, but not much more. And then there is Tallon. He went to bed at 10:30 and at 6:30 the next morning he was still sawing logs. We made him get up for breakfast and boy was he mad at us because he hadn't slept very long!
It was a great year this year and next year we will be doing it again. After packing up camp and trading our walking shoes for our working boots we headed off to Thayne to help Jacob with his Eagle Scout project.
We had perfect timing and made it just in time for lunch. Here is Grandpa Dana hanging with the triplets Evie, Orrin and Vivin.
The twins were so content to eat chips. I don't know where they kept finding them, but every time I turned around they had another plate full.
Grandma Thelma came and supervised the project along with Uncle Darrin. He flew in from Florida the day before and was put right to work. It is always fun to spend quality family time together.
Eventually we did have to work and Tallon was the best painter. He worked for 2 hours painting Jacob's new fence.
We gave up on the whole service thing and went for some R&R up Strawberry. The reservoir is beautiful this year, and sooooo very cold. The boys put their toes in once and spent the rest of the time 5 ft in shore saying Cold!!
Jared caught a little butterfly on his finger and Tallon was amazed. It was Jared and Sydneys first time up Strawberry and I hope they had a good time.
I tried sleeping on the bank but the twins decided that I needed to hold them while they threw rocks into the lake.
Tallon was the bravest of us all and made it a whoping 5 seconds in the water then he ran like a little girl for his socks.
Tyler and Sydney enjoying some down time. We were all so tired at this point and a soak in the lake was just what we needed.

We made it home just in time to do laundry, bathe 3 kids, and crawled into bed at 8:00. I was happy to hear that my 9:00 Sunday morning meeting had been canceled and we all slept in until 8:30. It is amazing what a little sleep does to make a weekend great!

When did he grow UP?!?!

This morning I went to get Tallon to go run so errands. He was in his room with his music going, just hanging out. It was then that I noticed his little message on the trim of his door.

Sorry it is so blurry, it says NO GIRLS! When did my little baby grow up!!

A cousin named Carter

We got to have one of our favorite people stay with us last night, Carter!! Tallon has been begging for Carter to spend the night. He loves any time he get to spend with his cousin, and they had so much fun. Here are the two boys trying to sleep. There was so much laughing and playing to get to bed to early...

a movie helped...

and the next morning we found them like this!

Tallon is finishing his last week of swim lessons so we took Carter with us to be his fan club. He was so funny! He kept yelling at Tallon to plug his nose and chanted Monkey, Tree, Rocket all the way home. We just adore this little guy and loved having him for a few hours to ourselves.

Here are just a few of the times these two have had together.
Together at Whit's wedding

Some time together at the lake

Snowmobiling with Grandad

Riding bikes together

The two of them together for their first sleep over at Granddad's and Grandma's

It has been so fun to watch these two grow up together and to have them be the best of friends is just the greatest thing ever!!

Family Night

It is hard to believe that June is almost over and this is the first night that we had to go for a hot dog roast. We loaded the kids up and went up Grover Park for a few hours. The boys had so much fun running and chasing up the trails. It is wonderful having the twins big enough this year to chase after Tallon. The three of they are so fun together and always bring a smile.
Orrin copied Tallon all night! Anything Tallon did he did, anything Tallon said he said, and anywhere Tallon went he followed. What a lucky kid to have such an awesome big brother. Vivin, of course, was content to just do his own thing. He was bound and determined to not walk on the trail, but beside it, and was always wandering off to explore what was behind the next tree. It is fun to see the different personalities each boy has and yet they are all still so much alike.

29 hours and 1800 miles

Tyler made a fun little jaunt to California this weekend. Kaleb called earlier in the week and asked if he was up for a road trip and of course Tyler said yes. Kaleb found a truck but it needed to be trailered home, so he rounded up 2 brothers and 1 buddy, and Friday afternoon they all took off. They made good time and I think it would be scary if the truck could talk. They made it to the sunny state of Cali and were welcomed with fog and rain! They found what they were looking for and what they found was worth the trip.

Tyler was soooo excited to show off his find to Tallon. Roy Rogers Drive!!!!! Tallon was speechless. He is a Roy Rogers fan and is currently planning his own trip to California just to visit Roy Rogers Drive.

The boys had a great time. They made the trip in a little over 29 hours and only blew 2 tires on the trailer. They had to make a brief stop to replace all 4 trailer tires, but that was the only problem they encountered. After breaking into Kaleb's apartment for few hours rest on the couch, they all made it home safe and sound in time to celebrate Fathers Day with their boys.

What a deal?!?!?

If I was a better record and event keeper I would know the number of days it has rained. Even though I don't know the exact number I do know that it has been A LOT!!!! And everyone in my house is way over it. Tallon told everyone that this was the worst summer ever and he is right. Don't get me wrong it is wonderful to have everything so green and breathtaking, the rain storms have been fun to watch, listen to, and smell, but seriously enough is enough! The past month this has been the view of the evenings in Star Valley. Not just the evenings, pretty much all the time. I can't remember the last day that we didn't see this site coming over the west hills at least once or twenty times a day.

We have had to get our little bits of sanity whenever and however we can. Tallon and Tyler did get a few minutes of fishing in one day.

Swim lessons have been a joy. The first day we all sat under our umbrellas to watch the kids. A little rain never ruined any swimming at least not here.

Tallon is doing great this year! He remembered so much and is picking up on tons of new information. He has turned out to be quite a fish!

We were even able to catch a little sun and play out on the swings. The first sign of no rain and everyone heads for outside, sometimes we get a few hours of play and other times it is just mins. but at this point we will take what we can get.

The best part is that it is supposed to rain for at least another 10 days. My creativity is running out! Not to mention my sanity!!

Never Say Never!

If only I would follow this advice! I have on occasion said "my kid would never", "or I would never", and slowly I am eating each one of these nevers. Well two weeks ago I had to swallow another one. Go back a few years and I was heard to have said "I would never want to serve in Relief Society, they do soooo much work and I don't think I would be able to handle it and remain sane at the same time." Skip ahead to two weeks ago and I heard the Bishop say "the Lord would have you serve as the next Relief Society President, will you accept this call." (yeah, I know my jaw hit the floor too) Many tears were shed and somewhere in all the blubbering I must have said yes because he told me to get him some names for my counselors and to be ready to be sustained in two weeks. Needless to say it has been an interesting two weeks and I have found a new level of crying. At the same time it has already been one of the choicest experiences of my life. I was set apart yesterday and I know that if I give it my all, I will be blessed with the help that I will need to fulfill the things the Lord would have me do. It is true "The Lord does not give us what we can handle, He helps us handle what we are given."

I can't BELIEVE it!!

I walked out to check on the old garden this morning and I found that IT IS GROWING!!! I have two pumpkin sprouts, radishes, lettuce, spinach, carrots, onions, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and peas! No sign of the potatoes yet but I am hoping!
