The Friend Party

Tallon's Birthday being on Sunday this year made it so we did his friend party today. He didn't complain seeing that this would make it so that he could celebrate 2days in a row. We had it all planned to have friends come to the house for a few hours, but we woke up to rain! So plan "B" involved a lot of phone calls and the church house (seriously, having a key is the greatest perk of the job!).

As you can see he had a great time. This was his first year to have a pinata, no party fails when you have a pinata in the mix, and the kids loved the candy. We played games, opened presents, and loved the cake and ice cream.
Happy Birthday Babe!!!

Time out for Fair

Man we had a great time at the fair this year. Tallon won 4 blue ribbons and 4 red ribbons, totaling $28 that went towards tithing and Gun Money! Grandpa and Grandma Dana always come and take the boys to ride the rides. This year the rides didn't open until 5pm so we all got to join in the fun. But not before we enjoyed a good fair burger and the pulling matches.
A photo cap of our fun times:

Grandpa Chad, Jace, Camilla, and Orrin. Orrin wasn't happy that Vivin had to ride a different bike...

but Vivin didn't seem to care.

Tallon wanted to ride the "alien" ride (it was the graviton when i was little) but I was worried that he would get sick. He finally convinced me to let him try and Aunt Jerrie went with him to make sure he was okay.

To my great surprise he came off all grins and just yelling "that was so awesome! I didn't get sick!!!"

Tyler had to go home and go to bed so he missed the boys on the rides. He was feeling kinda bad so we went again tonight. He and Tallon rode the "alien" ride again and Tallon didn't do so hot this time. He was feeling a bit sick and so was Tyler. But that didn't stop them from going on the zipper! I couldn't believe that Tallon did it. But here is the proof

their cage which proved to be a great spinner, much to Tylers delight.

Tyler was all grins and Tallon was all "I am never doing that again!" which lasted about 2 mins and then he was begging to try it one more time. Tyler said about half way through the ride Tallon was yelling "I hate this! I hate this!", way to funny. When they were waiting to get off Tallon told Tyler that he wished they had a taller stick to measure the kids with so that he wouldn't have been able to ride the ride! I guess they have a stick at the gates and if you are tall enough you can go, if not you get to wait another year. It was really fun to watch Tallon try the big rides this year.

Tallon enjoying the last ride of the night.

It is safe to say that we had a great time this year at the fair. We saw a tiger, ate some cotton candy, rode the rides, and went home. Can't wait to do it again.

there's no BUDDY like a bRoThEr

When you are hurt, he will stop and pull out the sliver...

and when he is done, you go right on playing!

Truly a blessed relationship.

Fair Fair Fair

It is time again for the Lincoln County Fair. Tallon has entered things for the past 3 years and has been pleasantly surprised at the money he has earned, so this year we were busy again.
I went through some of his school things and found a fun chalk picture that he had done, one down. He had taken some fun pictures up Murphy a week or so ago, two three four five down. Then he came up with the idea of painting the flag on a rock. Great,... but where do you find a rock that will work? Dave came to our rescue and within minutes we had "the" rock! Here is the work in progress...

and the finished product. I think it turned out awesome!

Here he is with all his things for the first go round, pretty impressive.

Next, came the fun part of baked goods. He wanted to make Fudge...

and sugar cookies.

Not bad for a 6 year old!

His things are getting judged today, so tonight we will go see what ribbons he won. Wish us luck!

The Morning

This morning we received permission to go up to Simplot Smokey Canyon Mine and get a tour of the mine site and the logging area where Tyler has been working. It was so fun to see the boys wide eyed with excitement as they saw all the different equipment.
We made it to the guard shack around 9:00 am and watched the safety video. We all got cool orange hard hats to wear and the boys spent a good half hour terrorizing the poor security man.

I swear there wasn't one thing that they didn't get into. Ear plugs, pop machine, coveralls, you name it the twins found it.

Tallon watching the shovel load a truck. He loved every minute of our 2 hours there. It also helped that he got to ride around with his Granddad who he just loves.

Tyler and Tallon by the log loader

Mom and the twins stayed in the truck most of the time. You have to have a hard hat on when you are out of the equipment and getting the twins to leave their hats on was a joke. So here we are with Tallon

Tallon loved crawling around on the equipment. Here he is on the feller-buncher

Orrin trying to make it to Rick and Tyler. He couldn't see a thing with his hat on the poor kid.

Tallon helping Vivin on the feller-buncher

Granddad with his 3 boys on one of the dozers

This is the dozer that Tyler gets to spend 10 hours a day. The boys thought it was the greatest thing getting to sit in dads machine

Tyler and Vivin chillin

Tyler and Rick rounding up the twins. What a ride trying to keep track of those two around the equipment. They have no fear and were climbing on everything!

It is kind of like herding pigs, you lead and hope they follow!

Tyler and Vivin

It has been a long time since we have been up the the mine. Tallon was just little and so it was fun taking the boys to see what their daddy, grandpa, and granddad do for work. It is also very helpful that Rick is supervisor and loves his kids enough to listen to our noise level for 2 hours (anyone else would have thrown us out).
Great way to start off our Saturday!

The evening

After an eventful morning at Simplot, we loaded the twins, RBK, and the four wheeler up and went to get firewood up Murphy. Tallon was a party pooper and went to the Demolition Derby with Clancy and James.
Tyler and JC went to cutting trees and Sydney and I had fun taking pictures. Here is Tyler skidding a tree to the truck.

I love how Orrin is bossing Alicia, hand on hip and everything

Tyler eyeing another tree. He just kept cutting them down! Seriously, everytime we thought we were getting close to done, here Tyler would come with another tree. I don't think the Inskeep Fam will ever invite us again!

The boys really enjoy the role of supervisior. They do it soooo well.

The might logging crew.

We finally got 3 cord of wood blocked and decided that that was probably enough for one night. We headed to the lake for a picnic and got to enjoy it in the dark. We were all so tired and ready to be done that we didn't even take the time to make a fire.

We loaded up to come home around 10:00 and within minutes our back seat looked like this. They were soooo good all day. What little troopers.

What a way to spend a day, it was wonderful. We worked, we played, and we are exhausted!
