Tonsils, Why Do We Have Them!?!?!

Today was Orrin's surgery day. He has been complaining about his ears hurting for some time now. Every time we took him into the doctors, they could find nothing wrong with his ears. They would comment on how huge his tonsils were and home we would go. I finally made an appointment with the ENT and his opinion was that Orrin's tonsils were SO big they were pushing up on his ears and making them hurt. Solution: take them out! So that is what we did.
There is something about a hospital gown: cute and sad at he same time.

The cool gloves and glove-man that the nurse made him while we were waiting.

Tallon and Vivin enjoyed the day boating at Bear Lake, Van being the mommy's boy that he is enjoyed his morning at the hospital with Orrin. Van was adorable through the entire hospital bit. He loved and cuddled Orrin like no other. I really think it helped Orrin relax having baby brother there.

Surgery went great. He was gone for about 20 mins and then it was about another 20 mins or so before I could go back and see him. He kinda had a hard time waking up. He didn't want anything to do with drinking (which was one of the requirements to go home) and hated his IV. They ended up moving us to another room because the next patient needed the spot we were in. The move helped to get him going and soon he took his drink and we were on our way home. Earlier in the morning he spied this cool horse at the gift shop so I caved and bought it for him on our way home.

He smiled all afternoon because of that horse. Best money I've ever spent! Sadly, his smiles didn't last long. Around 3:00 he crashed and had a pretty rough evening. Lucky for him, his baby Van was there to love him through it.

Here's hoping for a good night and a better day tomorrow!

Stinkin' tonsils, why do we need them anyway!

4th Fun

We played the low key weekend for the 4th and it was awesome. Sleep outs, family time, and fireworks all in small amounts made for a pretty relaxing time.
Brynja and Chase invited everyone over for a few fireworks tonight. The boys are loving the time with cousins.

Thanks for a fun evening Putnam Fam!!

Summertime Must

How happy we are that summer has finally found us. The nights are still a bit cold but slowly warming. The boys have been begging for a night out on the tramp.
How can you say no to 2 little boys dressed like this

Tyler has always been the best sport at doing fun things with the boys.

Tallon, Vivin and Orrin all ready for a fun night with their daddy.

Van tried his hardest to be part of the fun, but at the end of the night he had to go in the house with mom and he was not happy about it. Few more years and he will be right in the middle of it.

The nights still frost a bit so Ty made sure to put on a bunch of extra blankets. Just imagine the dreams these little ones will have.

Nothing bets a night spent sleeping under the stars.

"A" For Effort

Memories are made in the mountains, right? We try our best to get he boys out in the great outdoors as much as possible. This weekend we did the camping thing.
We borrowed Aunt Jessie's trailer, planned all the great things we were going to do, packed packed and packed some more, and finally we were off.
Tyler got off at a great time on Thursday, Grey's River was our destination, and we were only running a couple hours behind where we wanted to be, not bad.
We passed up a couple good spots to camp in hopes that the one we wanted wouldn't be taken, no such luck. Instead of being 10-12 miles up the river we ended up being 19.5, oh well, we had a great spot.
The trailer set up in a breeze, the kids choose cold cereal for dinner and soon it was bed time. Van kept everyone busy shutting doors, opening doors, and basically being a pain in the butt, he's one what do you do?

Tallon called dibs on the table bed and had himself a regular little bedroom set up. The twins got the couch. They were so excited to sleep in a trailer. We offered to make a fire and do the whole campfire thing but sleep was all they could think of.
A bed time story from Dad was all it took. They were out and Tyler and I got to enjoy the campfire all to ourselves! The next morning everyone was up bright and early ready for all the fun. Tallon's dreams came true when he asked his Dad if he could chop some wood and was given the go ahead. He couldn't have been happier. Tallon, Van, and Orrin chillin by the fire. Tallon and Vivin Van and Orrin We were ready for a ride when Tyler and I both realized that neither of us had bought the ORV sticker for the Ranger. Oh well, it was only a 20 mile ride to Alpine. Followed by a 20 mile ride up Little Grey's. Followed by another 20 mile ride back to the trailer. 60 miles in a Ranger for the pregnant lady was a bit more than fun so instead of more discovering, I napped and the kids played.
Soon Grandpa and Grandma found us and fishing at Murphy was our next adventure. Here is Van being oh so very helpful to Grandpa as he was trying to rig up 5 poles.

Jace caught a fish within 5 mins of being there. Little stink. He is the luckiest little fart around. Van got brave enough to think about touching it. Vivin and his Papa Chad. Oh look someone dared touch Van. Man he has turned into such a mama's boy lately. Vivin trying his best... and it worked!!
What a great smile all because of his FIRST fish! Orrin laid claim on Jaces fish, so here are Orrin and Vivin with their catches. Tallon choose the wading effect. He just couldn't get his line to fall quite where he wanted it to. The great thing about Murphy is that it is always freezing!! Orrin showing off "his" catch The boys bought Tyler a new fly rod for Father's Day. Insert pic here of Tyler's catch with said fly rod. The picture is on Jerrie's camera, sorry babe.
But aren't the boys soo cute out on the raft. Orrin, Vivin, Jace, and Tallon Tallon reeling in his catch. In his underwear no less.We had a blast at the lake. The fish were biting like crazy and the kids had a ball. We got back to camp and had a great dinner followed by the camping dessert of Smores. Everyone was exhausted. We had everyone tucked in, or so we thought, until we walked out by the fire and found Orrin. This morning we woke up to a baby with a very high fever. Van and I loaded up and were at the doctors office by 10:30, double ear infections. Tyler enjoyed a ride with the 3 boys and soon they were loaded up and headed home. Orrin threw up most of the way home. Classic way to top off the weekend. We really had a great time. Not everything went as planned but the boys loved it and that's all that counts!

One of Those Saturdays

Saturdays at our house we try to make fun. Tyler gets all his work done on his Friday off so that we can have Saturday as a family day. Tonight as we looked back on our day we had done just that: had a perfect day spent with family.
I got to go shoot a family reunion early this morning. The twins went with me and Ty took the oldest and the youngest: perfect. The family I got to spend my morning with just happens to be one of the families I love. They have been "my family" since I was born and are now some of our dearest friends. I love the pics that I grabbed of "my grandpa earl" and my boys: perfect.

As I was busy visiting with family Tyler was busy getting ready for a fun afternoon. A ranger ride was the order for the day and you know what, it was pErFeCt!! We wanted to go south and had been told that you couldn't go far. Everyone was right, 4 miles was about all we could go on the main road, but the perfect little side road that we found worked just great. Van's smile will attest to our great day.

Our big kid crew for the day was made up by Carter, Vivin, Tallon, Brixton, and Orrin. Tallon and Brixton are sporting their new knives they bought with their OWN money yesterday. They think they are soooo big now.

Orrin showing off his idea of a perfect lunch,a granola bar and 2 kinds of chips.

Vivin's choice was just as perfect.

Orrin and Brixton having a little chill time in the Ranger.

So this is totally random, but notice how much smaller Van's one tooth is compared to the other? Weird but still perfect.

PERFECT!!!

Tallon put his trusty new knife to work cutting all the wildflowers in the meadow for me: perfect.

Tallon and Brixton. These 2 have been the best of friends since they were 15 months old.

Yes, they are sooo very cool.

We looked back on our day and really it was just Perfect.
