A Sleigh Ride

Our good friends, Apryl and Quinten, invited us to go for a sleigh ride this afternoon.
It is sad to me that my boys have never rode behind a team,
for this was my childhood.

Every Saturday we were up early so that we could go feeding with Dad and Grandpa. It always took us hours to get the feeding done. We were thrown off the sleigh a billion times on the way done to the pasture and back. We had our sleds tied on behind and going over the frozen turds was the funnest. Getting stepped on by the cattle and horses was a chance we were willing to take.
We came home wet and cold and HaPpY.
My Dad fed with a team for years. He and Grandpa also entered their team in the Horse Pulls. I loved growing up with a team.
Dad still used a team to feed when Ty and I were first married. But only for 2 years. By the time we had Tallon, a tractor had replaced the team.
After a day like today, I think we are going to have to convince Grandpa to get the old sleigh out again and break the 2 drafts that are kept busy eating hay.
Enjoy my children's smiles

Thanks for a perfect December afternoon!
