Man, we have a nice ward

Tyler nailed it as we walked out of the pine wood derby, we do have a nice ward.
Tallon and Tyler have been working had the past few weeks getting Tallon's derby car ready. They painted...

and put everything together, until it was just right.

The stake went all out with this awesome track! It was set up with a electronic finish line! There was no guessing who won. They had a projector set up so the boys could all see how fast they went and where they placed. The scouts did an awesome job with sportsmanship, making it a perfect day.

Tallon's car worked great this year. He has it fixed up with bullets and because of his design he was award the Cubmaster's pick award.
The bear den in the Lakewood stake. Yep, you read that right, the STAKE. It keeps it nice and personal this way.
Tallon placed 4th overall and 1st in the bears. He was way excited.
The bullets are a bit off because of a little accident at the race. All the boys (and dads) handled it really well. 4 cars were left at the bottom of the track and they sent the next 4 down. It made everyone sick watching the cars crash into each other. Tallon's car took the worst of it. They had a hot glue gun ready and within a few mins he was back out on the track racing.

Great job Buddy!!

Has to be from Betty!!!

In the 8 years that we lived in Afton, I bet we came home to surprises on our door step about a billion times. They always came from our favorite neighbor, BETTY!! We have found surprise Easter treats, coats, diaper bags, gallons of milk and ice cream, and much much more. Today we had a long long afternoon. I took 4 kids to get shots. Conn got 4, Orrin 6, and Vivin 6! We were there for over 3 hours and by the end I was done and so were the kids. How could someone hundreds of miles away know that I needed a package on my doorstep today. Only Betty! I laughed when I saw it and the kids all yelled, it has to be Betty!

Yep, it's from Betty! Who else would know that the twins were missing "the candy man" and his N&N's! Thanks guys how we love and miss you!

Mom, Conn's face is growing up!

Orrin is in love with Conn. It is awesome. He loves and plays with this baby. He has never showed a lot of interest in respect to babies. He tolerates Van at best. But for some reason he LOVES Conn. So much that the other day Conn was fussing in his bed upstairs and Orrin went to help him. Next thing I know Orrin in telling me that he is helping Conn to be happy and I turn around and find Orrin holding Conn DOWNSTAIRS!! Yes, that turkey had got Conn out of bed and carried him down 13 stairs. I tried to not react, hopefully I did okay. Orrin sat there bouncing his brother on his knee telling him not to cry because brother had him. It was priceless(and terrifying).
My five boys!! They are adorable, even if Vivin is mad that he is not holding the baby...
so he left and we took pics of 4 adorable boys.
Vivin and Conn
Orrin and Van
Orrin and Conn, what a wonderful sight!!
It is safe to say that Conn is loved and looked after :)
It has been a good couple of weeks. The boys are adjusting well and really settling in. It is hard to believe that we have been here for 2.5 weeks already and that Conn is 2 months old!!

Mom, I like our new house

Tears welled up as Vivin spoke these words to me. I was worried with how he would handle this move, he, like everyone else has done amazing.
We have had amazing blessing as we have packed our home and moved. Trials by the dozens but blessings by the thousands. I was laughing with my grandma the other day and telling her our stories, she laughed and said "Jaymie write this down!! Years to come you will think 'wow did we really do that', you have to write this down." So, I am going to be a good girl and mind my grandma, and write it down.
Tylers last day of work was the 15th of December. It was a wonderful and very sickening day. We were unemployed,... wow, unemployed. Tyler was excited knowing that what he has been dreaming of doing was finally happening. We packed a few things and attended important family events that weekend and on Sunday, Tyler and Tallon left for Denver to find us a place to live. Everything we had tried had failed and with only 2 weeks to leaving we had nowhere to live. Monday the 19th was very hard. Everything Tyler tried fell through. People were nice and helpful, but we were still homeless. That afternoon he and Tallon had an appointment to walk through his school and after that things came together. He met up with an individual who had a two bedroom condo that was willing to rent to us. Nothing mattered, size, location, nothing, it was a place to live and we were excited.
I had spent the day in Jackson with my sister Jullie and our 6 six kids at doctor appointments. Wow, that was a fun day. Needless to say we didn't visit two many places. We laughed and enjoyed the time that we had together. It was sad to think that I wouldn't be able to do that again. At least not for awhile. Missing family started to set in. That night the 4 boys and I attended a Hansen Family party and had a great time. But again the thoughts of "i won't be doing this next year" hit and so did the tears. That night I made up my mind that there would be no more sadness for me. I couldn't let it happen. With Christmas, a baby blessing, and having ALL of our family home for the holidays, I had to make the most of it and face this move with a smile.
Dec 20th
I received the call from Tyler telling me that all was in order in Denver and he and Tallon were on their way home. This was a great relief. We didn't know how long they were going to have to stay and the weather wasn't looking great. I was glad they were done and had been successful. That morning I also got a phone call from the family that we had asked to rent our home. They said they wanted to but had some issues with their rental now but things were worked out and we now had renters. What an answer to prayers. We didn't want just anyone to rent and we hadn't found anybody that we really trusted. I called this family on a whim and now we had renters! In 12 hours things started coming together.
Dec 21-23
We spent these days doing nothing but packing and finishing up the last days of school. Tallon had a sad last day. His tears broke my heart. His classmates all wrote him letters and as we read through them we just bawled. We knew this was going to be hardest on him. He was able to spend time with friends those days which was a huge help. He had a ball with JJ and Gabe.
My mom came everyday for 6 or so hours and we worked on the house. Ty stayed busy doing and packing the garage. We needed to leave the house somewhat in order for Christmas, so we called it quits early on the 23 and had Christmas all weekend. It was wonderful. We did family parties, attended church as a family for the first time in months, and just spent time thanking Heavenly Father for all of our blessings.
Dec 26
Wow!! We spent all day packing and preparing for Conn's baby blessing. We got tons of the house done thanks to my mom, trying to pack with a nursing baby was not all that productive. Orrin played with Carter, Vivin and Van spent the day with aunt Jerrie and Tallon hung with Jacob. Tyler, Kaleb, James, Brian, Darrin, and Brent got the piano out of the basement. Yeah we won't go into much detail, just glad it is done. That night we filled the relief society room with family and Tyler gave Conn a beautiful blessing. We laughed for an hour with all our family and just drank that time up. Yes, there were (and are) tears that night. We dropped the twins off to Grandma and Granddad to spend the night and laughed the night away with Whit and Kaleb.
Dec 27
Ty and Kaleb made a bazillion trips to the dump and packed, packed, packed. Before I knew it my couches and beds were gone and my house was empty. My mom put us all to same with her packing skills and with Jullie's help my kitchen was done in no time. That afternoon Jennie Hansen and Aubrie came and wow did we have a system going. Me nursing while everyone else worked :) I had hit the "throw it away" stage and it was amazing to watch our stuff disappear. The boys all slept over at families houses which was good considering the didn't have beds to sleep on.
Dec 28
Today found us a day ahead of schedule!!! We were hoping to have everything packed and out and we were going to clean thurs, but we finished the house!!!! We had so much help. Anytime you need to move call my mom and Kaleb, seriously call them they are amazing, there is no way we would have got things done without them. Jennie and Aubrie came and helped clean, Sherri was there shampooing the carpets, Grandma Mel was washing walls and by 3 the upstairs was DONE!!!! I figured we would call it a day, but not with that crew! We started the downstairs, and with new energy from Dave and Shandi MY ENTIRE HOUSE WAS EMPTY AND CLEAN BY 6!!!!!! Amazing, seriously, amazing. Ty and I went out to dinner with the Majors and had a ball. How we miss them. Since I hadn't seen the kids in days we went to grandmas to give them a kiss goodnight and ended up bringing them home to spend the last night in our home. Yes, it was a sad night but we were too tired to cry. Tallon was spending the night with Brixton. We went to sleep on the floor knowing that the next day would be filled with goodbyes and tears.
Dec 29
This morning we woke to ice!!!! And lots of it. We called everyone and told them to stay home and off the roads. The house was done. Ty spent the day paying bills and disconnecting everything. Shandi took the boys for the day so Ty and I could meet with our renters and get contracts signed. I took a few quiet moments and walked from room to room saying my goodbyes. I knew I needed to be happy for the boys. They didn't need to see me cry. As I walked from one room to the other memories flooded my mind. The day we bought our home 8 years ago and the first night we spent there as a family of 3. The days of tears and joys. The day we brought the twins home and finally had CHILDREN!! The love that welcomed each Holiday, birthday, and popcorn movie night. The first steps, the first sleep through the nights, the first days of school, and many more. So many images went through my mind as I made my way through my home. Tears came and then it came to me. It was the house and the rooms, but even more it was the people in those rooms that meant so much to me. Tyler, Tallon, Orrin, Vivin, Van, and Conn. They are what made my house a home and they are what I need to be happy. Not a house, not a Valley, not anything. I CAN be happy where they are. Nothing else matters. Home will be where I make it. And I am going to make it in Lakewood Co. I will have memories there and they will be precious. All because of my boys.
So with that, my boys came home and I watched as they said goodbye. It was hard. The 4 youngest didn't really get it. Tallon did. I watched as he cried. I watched as Tyler hugged him and told him it would be okay.
I got in my car with my children with me and I drove away. I wasn't sad this time. I was okay. I knew what was important and where my happiness comes from. I cried for Tallon, but I know he is strong and will be okay.
As we said goodbyes to our families more tears came. But it is not forever, just for awhile. Tears mean we love each other.
And so our Adventure Begins.

Why wouldn't I think of that

Wow with everything going on the past weeks, you know, baby, Christmas, baby blessing, packing a house, moving, unpacking a house, getting settled in a huge city, Ty and Tal starting school, keeping 4 kids quiet all day so our neighbors don't hate us, and just life, it didn't dawn on me that when we left and canceled our Internet in the valley that my email would go with it. Go figure. So I have lost everything that my sweet email account held. Address, messages, appointment, you name it is gone. So I now have a new email. I didn't really want to put it out to the world but oh well. Please send me a message, let me know I am loved, that you miss me, and that I am your favorite person, you know all the basics that a homesick girl needs. That way I can reply to you and let you know that I love you too :) tjhansen00athotmaildotcom.

Blessings

Today was our first day in our new ward. The boys did great going to their new classes and meeting new friends. I said a prayer as we were going in that we would meet a family or two that would help us feel that this ward could be home. As we were leaving Tyler introduced me the the Jacobson family. She has a brother in law from the valley. We laughed at what a small world it really is. When we went to leave the church the car wouldn't start. There we sat. We know nobody. Faces are just faces and there are no names to them. Then the Jacobson family drove by and stopped to help. He and Tyler have spent the entire afternoon trying to get the Excursion going. All afternoon. Rides to and from the house, getting our family home from church, going to the parts store, helping with numbers of mechanics, you name it Brother Jacobson has helped do it. To top it off, Tyler's batteries died on his truck when he went to start it this morning, no life left to be charged. So here we sit car less in a city that we know no one, except the Jacobson's. Thanks to their service we were able to get a ride to get some new batteries and he and Tyler are working on towing the Excursion to a shop. Yes we are having a pretty hard day, but yet there are blessings, and it is the blessing that will keep us going.

Conn's Day

We wanted to bless Conn before the big move and we wanted as many family members as possible to participate in the blessing. We have always blessed our babies in church, but this time we asked Bishop Nethercott if we could bless Conn on a Monday and at the church. We were so happy that he allowed us to do this. It made it so all these amazing men could hold my baby as his Father gave him a name and a blessing.
Family friend Kurt Sand, "uncle" David Major, cousin Vinnie Hansen, Bishop uncle Mike Hansen, uncle James Olenslager, cousin Darrin Haderlie, uncle Brian Olenslager, Bishop Mark Nethercott, Tyler and Conn Hansen, (orrin, vivin and carter) uncle Kaleb Redden, Grandpa Chad Dana, cousin Mason Hansen, Granddad Rick Hansen, uncle Jerry Hansen, uncle Alan Haderlie, cousin Colter Hansen.
Talk about a circle of tall men!! I am so thankful for all the support that Conn received. It was amazing to watch as our families filled the Relief Society room. This was the last time we had all our families together. There was tears but they were full of love.

Talk about a head of hair. This little one has stolen my heart. How thankful I am that he has been sent to our home and to our family. What a precious gift.

His blessing blanket was crocheted with love by his Great Grandma Thelma Dana. Each stitch was a labor of love. Truly a keepsake.
Daddy and his baby boy

Mommy and her baby
Tyler and I are so thankful for all the love and support that we receive. We truly have the most amazing families ever. How glad I am that our sons will be raised with such a love. We are so blessed.

It's all in the Name: Orrin

Each of our children have meaning behind the name that they were given. They have each been named after an individual that Tyler and I hold great love and respect for. It is interesting to see the personalities of our boys develop and see that they share strong characteristics with the men they have been named after.
Our Orrin is named after, Orrin Porter Rockwell. Tyler and I had read a book about Porter Rockwell and loved everything about him. His love and dedication to the Prophet Joseph Smith and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day saints is something that we hope Orrin will look to and find strength in. We wanted our little one to have the conviction to God that Old Port had.
What we didn't take into consideration was the other strong characteristics that would come through.
Wikipedia has this to say about Orrin Porter Rockwell:
Porter Rockwell was that most terrible instrument that can be handled by fanaticism; a powerful physical nature welded to a mind of very narrow perceptions, intense convictions, and changeless tenacity. In his build he was a gladiator; in his humor a Yankee lumberman; in his memory a Bourbon; in his vengeance an Indian. A strange mixture, only to be found on the American continent.
Wow, right. Orrin's personality has been given a whole new light!
But still, even with that said there is still the words of the prophets that offer some peace.
At Porter Rockwell’s funeral, Apostle and future Church President Joseph F. Smith spoke and said the following about Porter –

“They say he was a murderer; if he was he was the friend of Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, and he was faithful to them, and to his covenants, and he has gone to Heaven and apostates can go to Hell… Porter Rockwell was yesterday afternoon ushered into Heaven clothed with immortality and eternal life, and crowned with all glory which belongs to a departed saint. He has his little faults but Porter’s life on earth, taken altogether, was one worthy of example, and reflected honor upon the church. Through all his trials he had never once forgotten his obligations to his brethren and his God.

3 Weeks of Changes

Wow, I can't believe that it has been 3 weeks since our little Conn joined our family. Time flies when your having fun! Conn has added so much love to our home. The boys just adore him. They are full of loves and kisses for this little one. Tallon is a ton of help as always. It is a good thing he is so independent and helpful. The twins are really full of it right now. With all the changes going on in our home it isn't to surprising. I am looking forward to getting life settled again and having them become a bit more human.I have been most impressed with Van. How he loves his little brother. He only cries about Conn when he is not allowed to hold him. He squeezes just tight enough to let Conn know he is holding him and kisses him on the head all the time. It really has been nice. I was a bit more than a little worried at how Van was going to react to being a big brother. Tyler is hating being away so much. He loves his little ones. The other night Tallon and I had pack meeting for scouts so Tyler got a good couple of hours with his little man and I think it was good for both of them :)I am loving being a mom of 5 boys. I am exhausted, but happy. I will be so happy when we get this move over with and are finally together as a family again. I think everyone will be a lot happier. Well the babe is crying, there went my 5 mins of peace:)

here is His story on his due date

It is funny how things happen. You pray and pray that they will just work and sometimes they do. Friday Nov 18 I had a doctors appointment along with a NST, AFI, and an ultrasound. My mom went with Van and I to help and drive because Tyler had to work. The nurse informed me when I was waiting that because I was 37 weeks the doctors were going to check me to make sure labor was coming anytime soon. I hate being checked. One of the perks of C-sections is not having to be checked. I protested to the nurse, she laughed at me, and I got checked. Maybe a half a centimeter no more. Great. The NST showed that I was having some contractions but nothing to be concerned with and the ultrasound showed all was holding steady. See you in 5 days. Mom and I decided to finish some shopping at Kmart. I felt some contractions but not anything that made me worry so home we came. Tyler got home around 6 and we were looking forward to a fun filled weekend of preparing for a baby. You know, wash clothes, find that car seat, put up the bassinet, that sort of stuff. I was really hoping that the doctors would let me move my C-section up a week and just have the baby the day after Thanksgiving. Tyler and I were commenting on how handy it would be if the baby would just come this weekend. Tyler would only have to miss 2 days of work and have the holiday weekend off. Wishful thinking. Around 8 I felt kind of a different contraction. One that caught my attention and made my mind start to spin. A few more confirmed my worry and I started freaking out that we had NOTHING ready to have this baby THIS weekend. I started running around the house trying to put something together, I started shaking, and then crying. I was not ready. Not ready for a ride to Jackson in pain on very slick roads, not ready to prepare myself for the possibility of not making it to the hospital in time to deliver this baby, and most definitely not ready for a C-section if it came to that. We will just say that I was not ready. I thought I was but nope. Tyler finally had enough of me and sent me to bed. He packed my bag, put the kids to bed, and came to check on me. It was now 10:30 and I decided it was stupid to wait. The roads were terrible with a capital t. Why was I laying in bed waiting instead of just going to the hospital? So, Sherri was called to stay with the kids and we were off. I wasn't in pain which surprised me. I was having contractions and I expected them to take off like they did when I had Van, but they didn't. They stayed there but nothing big. Half way to Jackson I was starting to worry that I had jumped the gun. We got the the hospital around 12:30 and the nurse told me they would monitor me for a few hours before admitting me and calling in the surgery team. I thought she was nuts. I explained my last delivery and she thought it was a great story nothing more. Oh well, if I got to VBAC that would be great. I just didn't want the pain that was involved. I was checked and found that I was at a 3. Good, I wasn't just imagining. I was monitored for a few hours. Tyler tried to sleep, so did I, but no luck. We had both been up since 5:30 and we were exhausted. The contractions stayed steady but not painful, and at 4 they decided to admit me and start preparing for surgery. I really thought that there was no way I was going to make it to 6. I was ready for a VBAC and hoping for one. By 6 am I was prepped and ready for my 3rd C-section. Doesn't Tyler look just great in his surgery getup.

I was given my spinal block and in mins I was throwing up. Man I hate that about surgery. I always get so sick. I ended up throwing up 3 times before the ordeal was over, yuck. The surgery team was awesome. I love my doctor. She came in with big hugs and smiles, and told stories through the entire surgery. Finally she said "here he comes" and Tyler took the most amazing picture over the curtain.
Yep that is my baby being pulled out of my stomach. I thought it was going to look gross, but it is honestly my favorite picture of all time. My babies really do come out of my tummy!!! Doctor Pockat was there with a lot of help. The anti E issues are huge and they were so prepared. Tyler thought it was great to get a pic of the baby upside down.
Here is Conn in all of his cuteness.
The doctors were so pleased with how Conn was doing. Dr. Pockat brought him over to me to see. This is me meeting my son. My arms were strapped down so all I could do was look, but it was wonderful to see him and hear him crying.
Off the the nursery Conn and Tyler went to get checked out and to be closely monitored. They also had the blood sugar issues to worry about. I expected they would be gone for a few hours making sure Conn was okay.

I was so excited when they called me in recovery and told me his weight and that he was doing well. I never expected to see Tyler come walking through the door holding Conn. Here I am holding him for the first time. I even got to nurse him while I was still in recovery!
Before we knew it we were in our room with our little one. The doctors were so pleased with Conn's health. Dr. Pockat came in checked on us regularly. He was so impressed. He made the comment that anti E comes with such a variety of problems and Conn wasn't showing a sign of any of them. "It is just historic" was Dr. Pockats statement. Conn never once had to leave our side. His health is truly a result of many prayers and many miracles. Conn and his proud Daddy
My favorite part of him is his hair. Surprisingly it isn't red! It is the prettiest mix of brown with frosted tips.

Conn Arwith Hansen. He is named after his great great Grandpa Kennington, Arwith Dick Kennington. I love the name. It has to grow on quite a few people but I know that it is a name that Conn will be able to look to and find great strength in the man that bore it before him.

How blessed we are! A perfect baby, born on the perfect day. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers that helped with the health and development of this precious little one. Truly our family is blessed with his arrival.

He's here and Healthy!!!!

Conn Arwith Hansen born 11-19-11 @ 7:06am weighed 6lbs 11oz 19 inches
